Policy Statement
This policy sets out the values, principles and procedures underpinning {{org_field_name}}’s approach to meeting the personal care and related needs of people who are living in supported living arrangements.
{{org_field_name}} aims to respond appropriately to the needs of people who require personal care by:
- complying with the standards of service required to achieve the outcomes required for all care services, but adapted to the needs of people in supported living accommodation
- where providing services to people with autism and/or learning disabilities, achieving the REACH standards and Real Tenancy Test set out in Care Quality Commission guidance, Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture (2020)
- meeting all registration and inspection requirements, particularly in regard to safe person-centred care and safeguarding matters and by promoting independence and social inclusion
- acknowledging the fact that the accommodation in which people using services live consists of their own homes even though the accommodation might be grouped into a scheme
- responding to people’s changing needs
- co-operating fully with {{org_field_name}} responsible for the provision of people’s accommodation and the scheme’s common services
- respecting the right of anyone to employ another service provider if they so wish
- participating as appropriate in the scheme’s other services and communal facilities aimed at advancing the welfare of people in supported living
- encouraging people to participate in local community activities and to exercise their rights as citizens.
Training
All staff receive training to meet the specific needs of people in supported living accommodation.
New staff will be expected to achieve the standards set out in the relevant induction framework. Experienced staff are supported to achieve relevant qualifications in health and social care and to follow any relevant specialist pathways, eg in support of people with learning disabilities and autism, which will include Oliver McGowan Mandatory training.
