Information for People Receiving Domiciliary Support: Range of Services (Wales) Policy
This template is designed to be converted into a statement for people who would like to receive domiciliary care to help them understand whether the domiciliary support service is likely to be able to meet their needs, and what it can and cannot provide.
The document envisaged will summarise the range of services provided and the limits of the service provision in line with the requirements of Regulation 14: Suitability of Service of the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017.
Policy Statement
This policy summarises the range of services offered by this domiciliary support service, and the limits to our service provision, in line with Regulation 14: Suitability of Service of the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017.
Regulation 14 requires {{org_field_name}} to have an “admissions and commencement of the service policy and procedure”, which includes reference to “arrangements for confirming that the service can or cannot provide a suitable service”.
This information will be provided to people thinking of using our services in different formats as required by their communication needs, in line with the Accessible Information Standard (AIS).
Requests for information will be responded to immediately with written information about support services sent to the enquirer as required, and in the format and language requested, or as an “active offer” in the case of Welsh speaking enquirers.
The policy should be used with reference to other policies on:
- Needs Assessment
- Information Provision for Prospective Service Users
- Pre-Service and Commencement of Service
- Responding to Requests for Service
- Self-funding and Direct Payments Arrangements
- Contracts and Agreements and Termination of Service.
Range of Services Provided
The service management is responsible for keeping under review the range of services provided, which can change in the light of variations in levels of needs, changes in the practice of local authorities and other social policy developments.
Currently, our range of services are as set out below.

- Mobility and transfers.
- Medicines.
- Laundry and housework.
- Accessing the community.
- Using technology to keep in touch.
- Gardening.
- Live-in care.
Timeframes
We are able to provide services as needed on any time basis in the short term, including “one-offs” (eg to provide relief cover for another agency), medium and longer terms [specify timeframes that apply to your agency here].
Minority groups
We welcome referrals from or on behalf of people from ethnic, social, cultural or religious minority groups, and people whose first language is Welsh. We will discuss an individual’s special needs and preferences at the time of our agreeing to provide a service and will seek to meet requirements as closely as possible or to refer on to appropriate sources of help elsewhere.
Timing of services
We are able to provide services at any time required [or insert here any limitations to the dates, days or times of the day or night when you cannot provide a service].
Working with an existing carer
Our care workers are happy to work alongside an existing carer, family member or friend. We will explore this issue at the time of making a needs assessment and before starting to provide a service so that the position is clear to all concerned.
Insurance
Our staff are covered [insert brief details of all relevant insurances].
Geographical area covered
[Insert details of the geographical area the agency is prepared to cover.]
Limits to Our Service
Local authority funding
If a person’s fees are paid by the local authority, we cannot significantly change the service provided without consultation with the relevant care manager.
Services we cannot provide
[Insert details of any types of service which the agency cannot provide. Do not go into too great detail as this will make the document sound unnecessarily negative. These issues can be further dealt with at the point of accepting or declining a referral.]
Limits of responsibility
[Insert a summary of any limits to its responsibility which the agency feels it necessary to state in advance. Do not go into too great detail as this will make the document sound unnecessarily negative. These issues can be further dealt with at the point of accepting or declining a referral or agreeing the terms of a contract.]
Summary
This domiciliary support service is in the business of helping people who need care. We are constantly reviewing our services and are always willing to discuss the particular needs of an individual. If at all possible, we will try to provide a service which meets their needs and preferences.
