Promoting Personalisation (Scotland) Policy
Policy Statement
This policy, which can apply to all care services, sets out the values, principles and procedures underpinning {{org_field_name}}’s approach to the personalisation of social care.
{{org_field_name}} aims to provide a service which is person-centred, enables each person to make choices about the care and support they receive, and accords with all elements of the personalisation of social care.
On this issue, {{org_field_name}} adheres fully to the current policies on the personalisation of care services as described in the National Health and Social Care Standards, My Support, My Life, particularly under:
- Standard 1: “I experience high-quality care and support that is right for me”, which includes:
- 1.14: My future care and support needs are anticipated as part of my assessment
- 1.15: My personal plan (sometimes referred to as a care plan) is right for me because it sets out how my needs will be met, as well as my wishes and choices
- Standard 2: “I am fully involved in all decisions about my care and support”, which includes:
- 2.17: I am fully involved in developing and reviewing my personal plan, which is always available to me.
Personalisation values and principles are reflected in all the service’s policies and procedures.
Policy on Promoting Personalisation
This service provider aims to put the people receiving its care at the centre of provision in the following ways.
- Its service provision is based on the perspective of each person with care and support needs.
- Individuals have the right to choose how their service is delivered.
- Information about {{org_field_name}} is provided in ways meaningful to each person to whom services are offered or provided, including those who use another language as their preferred medium.
- Service provision is in line with each individuals’ assessed needs and expressed wishes, including their cultural needs which are always addressed in ways that reflect their cultural values and identity.
- Risks to keep people safe are assessed according to each person’s wishes and capacities and not on a general formula applicable to all.
- Protection issues are always addressed in line with person-centred values.
- The privacy, dignity and independence of each individual is respected, taking into account personal wishes and circumstances.
- People living in a care home have the right to receive visitors of their own choosing and to have “meaningful connections” and relationships with people who are important to them.
- The privacy, dignity and independence of each individual is respected, taking into account their personal wishes and circumstances.
- People will be in control of their financial affairs in line with their wishes.
- Care and support are provided in line with equality laws with due regard to each person’s age, sex, religion, race, sexual orientation, culture, language and abilities.
- People receiving care who are subject to mental incapacity decisions will be treated in person-centred ways and their human rights respected.
- People’s personal data is always fully protected in line with current laws and regulations.
- {{org_field_name}} implements the SSSC Code of Practice for Social Services Workers, which requires commitment to person-centred values.
Training
All relevant staff are given training in the personalisation of services in order to implement the values and principles of My Support, My Life.
